How To Print from Android to Sharp Printers

In just about every office environment these days there is a need for printing from mobile devices. The landscape changes from year to year along with the phones and the printers. So how do you print from an Android phone to a Sharp network printer? It’s straightforward once you know the answer.

Disclaimer: Your Sharp device must have Post Script installed for mobile printing to work from Android AND/OR Apple mobile devices. This is a standard feature for some models, in other models you’ll need to purchase a PS license.

For Apple devices it’s as simple as connecting to the same network as the printer and tapping print, choosing your printer and preferences, and sending the print.

Sharp Print Service Plugin

For Android devices you’ll need to head over to the Google Play store and snag the Sharp Print Service Plugin. Once installed, head to your Printing settings in your Android phone and make sure the plugin is toggled on.

If you need to add a printer, do so by using your printer’s IP address. You can view or print that from the machine using these instructions.

After that you can open a document or a webpage to print and choose the Sharp Print Service Plugin and send your print. If you’ve installed the plugin and set up your printer using the IP address you should hear the printer rev up shortly after hitting print. The transmission of the print typically takes a bit longer than a print from a computer, but it should jump across before too long depending on the file size.
